Arches
14in x 18in
Acrylic Mixed Media
This paintIng has quite a history.
The largest arch (now at the top left corner in this orientation) was originally the outer edge of a pond (in landscape orientation).
This pond can be found at Colleton Plantation, St. Lucy.
I was attending an art workshop there, and loved the mossy, textured design of the pond wall. Sadly though, the pond has only sad remnants of water lilies so it was up to me to make this beautiful. The waterlily that I painted in it, was beautiful... but the perspective did not match the edge of the pond! I had to paint it out. I then turned the painting in portrait mode and painted golden palm leaves behind the ‘now’ arch with the sea in the distance. I did not like that either! So again it was ‘unpainted‘. It sat for several years waiting for inspiration.
I finally decided to repeat the arch design creation a series of Arches.
It is very heavily textured and it was quite a long process but I am finally happy with this result!
