My Story

I was born, and grew up, in Trinidad a land of vibrant colours and creative culture.  As a child I discovered a love for drawing and painting, and since my school didn't teach art I made sure to go to classes at a different school where my love for the subject grew.  I had an amazing teacher and role model in Eddie Sookoo, whose passion and knowledge infused me with the same.  Because of him I aced my final exams and have gone on to make my passion my career.

I got married, started a family and decided to move to Barbados.  A much smaller, but equally beautiful and inspiring island, where my husband and I expanded and raised our family.  Island living fuelled my interest in picturesque landscapes, dramatic sea views, vividly colourful flora and exotic fascinating animals - all of which I paint.  Of course, there's the people whose faces all have a tale to tell about life in the tropics, and you'll often find me painting soulful portraits of those I meet.

I prefer working in acrylic, but have been known to experiment with other media depending on the topic.  I've been part of many art groups over the years, and now host my own art classes where I hope to inspire others with my passion, as I was inspired as a child.  I'm grateful that throughout my career I've received awards for my work and that I have many pieces on display  worldwide.  This encourages me to keep sharing, keep painting and keep feeding my soul.  Please enjoy my art, and don't hesitate to contact me if you're interested in any of my pieces or in finding the 'air that you breathe' at one of my classes.
